NASA cloud-top temperature scale: 150–220 K violet; 220–225 K pink; 225–240 K dark to bright blue; 240–245 K cyan; 245–260 K dark to bright green; 260–265 K yellow; 265–270 K gold; 270–280 K brown; 280–290 K dark red; 290–350 K bright red. Lower temperatures indicate colder cloud tops. Use the coordinate form or select a location for its exact published colour bin. This reads a displayed satellite pixel, not the underlying measurement; mixed or unknown colours remain unavailable. Clear sky and missing observations are transparent. NASA colour definitions.
Global patterns, not an address-level forecast. Blank areas mean missing data. Check official local warnings for immediate decisions.

NOAA · NASA · USGS. Source times are shown; observations and models have different update schedules. Earthquake reports may be revised and small events are not comprehensively reported worldwide.
This globe uses MapLibre GL JS and OpenFreeMap maps from OpenStreetMap. Zoom in for cities, roads and neighborhoods. Map detail increases with zoom; weather retains its original global resolution. Atmospheric trails show surface wind; ocean trails show geostrophic currents. Rotation is a browsing effect, not a forecast animation. Quake pulses mark reported epicentres, not seismic-wave travel. Fire markers use NASA FIRMS Suomi-NPP VIIRS satellite heat detections, with clustering at global zoom and an observation replay. Flame icons are illustrative markers, not live footage or a simulation of fire spread.

UNDERSTAND THE DATA
Weather layers cover surface wind, air temperature, rainfall rate, pressure, humidity and cloud-top temperature. Ocean layers cover sea-surface temperature, its anomaly, geostrophic currents and significant wave height. Each layer names its provider, units and valid time so you can distinguish a forecast model from a satellite-derived analysis.
Trails illustrate wind or ocean direction from the displayed dataset. Motion is accelerated to make broad patterns visible; it is not a real-time video or a prediction of an individual object’s path. Geostrophic ocean currents do not include every tidal or wind-driven current. Pause motion to inspect the view.
Yes. Scroll, pinch or use the zoom buttons to reveal city names, roads and neighborhoods. The basemap gains detail as you zoom, while weather retains its original global-grid resolution. Enter a US ZIP code or choose a public place in the map controls to explore an approximate area. For a detailed local forecast, use the ZIP-code conditions desk.
Blank pixels can represent missing observations, land in an ocean dataset, or regions outside a product’s coverage. A missing value is not zero. Source times and previous-data labels help identify delayed data. Official weather warnings remain the responsibility of national and local authorities.
